Protect Your Immune System From Sickness and Viruses
Here's What the Research Says
Chiropractic Patient Have a 200% Greater Immune Competence
A study by Ronald Pero, Ph.D., chief of cancer prevention research at New York's Preventive Medicine Institute and professor of medicine at New York University showed the positive effect that chiropractic care can have on the immune system.
Dr. Pero measured the immune systems of people under chiropractic care compared to those in the general population and those with cancer and other serious diseases. The chiropractic patients were found to have a 200% greater immune competence than those people who had not received chiropractic care, and they had 400% greater immune competence than those people with cancer and other serious diseases.
Chiropractic Curbs Impact of the Spanish Flu
During the 1917-18 influenza epidemics, it was chiropractic's success in caring for flu victims that led to the profession's licensure in many states. Researchers reported that in Davenport, Iowa, out of the 93,590 patients treated by medical doctors, there were 6,116 deaths—a loss of one patient out of every 15. Chiropractors at the Palmer School of Chiropractic adjusted 1,635 cases, with only one death.
Outside Davenport, chiropractors in Iowa cared for 4,735 cases with only six deaths—one out of 866. Furthermore, chiropractors were called in to treat 233 cases given up as lost after medical treatment, and reportedly saved all but 25.
Immediate Immune Boost Following A Single Chiropractic Adjustment
A study led by Patricia Brennan Ph.D and her found that when a chiropractic "manipulation" was applied to the middle back, the response of white blood cells taken from blood collected 15 minutes was significantly higher than blood collectedl 5 minutes before and 45 minutes after the chiropractic procedure.
This research shows an "enhanced respiratory burst" following the chiropractic adjustment. This burst is needed for our immune cells to destroy invading viruses and bacteria.
Chiropractic Care Reduces Incidence of Cold and Flu
Research led by Dr. Robert Blanks studied 2,818 individuals undergoing chiropractic care. The participants reported an overall 7-28% improvement in
physical symptoms including stiffness/lack of flexibility in the spine, physical pain, fatigue, incidence of cold and flu, headaches, allergies, menstrual discomfort, gastrointestinal discomfort, dizziness, and falls.
More importantly, the incidence of colds and flu was reduced by an average of 1 5% in this large population who were undergoing regular chiropractic care'.
Interconnection Between The Nervous System and The Immune System
In 1987 Dr. Felton, an endocrinologist, along with his research team found that "Stressful conditions lead to altered measures of immune function, and altered susceptibility to a variety of diseases. Many stimuli, which primarily act on the central nervous system, can profoundly alter immune responses." The study determined a link between the nervous system and the immune system.
"When 1 first came to see Dr. Berlin, 1 had constipation, bouts with Bronchitis, and pneumonia and poor sleeping with many interruptions during the night. Now, my constipation is almost non-existent. My sleeping is so improved. So far this year, I have had no chest problems. Also, my skin is so clear and radiant. I can't believe it."
